Rustic Decorating Tips
Do you prefer your home to look a certain way? Of course you do! We all have tastes that often vary from one another; even the ones we live with. Now this can be a challenge. As many folks already know, this is when you have to compromise, as they call it. Ha, easier said than done. In my personal experience, the lady of the house always likes 99 percent of it a certain way. Of course your experience could be completely different. Regardless, we all still end up with decorated or semi-decorated homes. So, what is your preferred ambiance? Do you like a French country kind of feel, or a Victorian classic? Maybe you prefer a more contemporary decor over most rustic decorating. To each his/her own, right?
I will be one to admit that I prefer rustic decorating. Now, when I say rustic, I don't just mean a brick fireplace, as opposed to marble. I am talking about log homes and stairwells with bark on them. Okay, so maybe that's a tad extreme, but you surely get the picture. I love the feel of a house with rustic decorating galore. You can stick a muzzle loader above the stone wood-burning fireplace and a kerosene lamp on the wall. Does that sound sweet? Well, I would wager that it does to some folks, and it doesn't to a few others. That's life for you. As far as my wife is concerned, too much rustic decorating is out the door. She is a difficult one I must say. It's practically impossible to find a middle ground. She is plain and simply not interested in compromising. She often asks what it is. I proclaim that I would like the family room decorated a certain way, and she will express completely different ideas. This is fine and totally normal if you ask me. However, this is when we're supposed to find a middle ground with rustic decorating and the contemporary girly decor. Unfortunately for me it doesn't go that way. She stomps her foot and once again gets things the way she wants them. It must be a wife thing. This is certainly something to consider before tying the knot.
Are you a big fan of rustic decorating? Hey, join the small club. Luckily we can hop online and sort through a number of great ideas and schemes when it comes to rustic decorating. It's all at your fingertips. What did you have in mind for your home?
